ABOUT BUDGET TRANSMISSION
Transmissions are all we do — and we’ve been doing them right since 1986. As the largest transmission shop in Central Arkansas, we’ve built our reputation on honesty, fast turnaround, and great customer service. This role reports directly to Joseph Bruder, Fort Smith General Manager.
ABOUT THE ROLE
A big part of this job happens on the phone. Most of our customers call in before they ever visit the shop — and your ability to build trust, communicate clearly, and guide them toward the right service over the phone is what drives our business. If you’re a natural on the phone, confident with automotive service, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to talk.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Phone & Customer Communication:
- Answer inbound calls promptly and professionally — this is your primary sales channel
- Listen to customer-described symptoms and ask the right questions to identify likely transmission issues
- Present quotes and service recommendations confidently over the phone and convert callers into booked appointments
- Keep customers informed throughout the repair process with proactive updates
Shop & Operations:
- Greet walk-in customers and provide the same excellent service in person
- Create work orders, obtain customer approvals, and manage repair expectations
- Coordinate with technicians to ensure accurate diagnosis and realistic timelines
- Track parts status and coordinate with the parts manager and suppliers
- Keep shop software up to date with job status and notes
- Maintain a clean, organized front-of-house and reception area
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years in automotive service writing and quoting
- Proven ability to sell and build rapport over the phone — not just in person
- Able to explain complex issues simply and guide customers to a decision with confidence
- Transmission experience a plus — but not required
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable managing a fast-paced day
- Passionate about the automotive industry and taking great care of customers
