Manitoba Public Insurance’s Associate Case Manager Talent Community allows individuals who are interested in joining the case management team, a chance to submit an online application, cover letter and/or resume that will be considered for future opportunities when the department has vacancies to fill. This talent community houses all resumes and will be reviewed when there is a need to fill a position.
As the Associate Case Manager you will contribute to a collaborative team environment and learn to use this approach to gain knowledge of MPI legislation and Personal Injury Protection Plan (PIPP) policies and share knowledge amongst other Case Managers. Teams share resources and partner together to support departments, service providers and customers.
Responsibilities
- With the assistance of the team, develops the skills to manage low complexity claims.
- Advises customers about the benefits available, coverage, and file progress.
- Develops a thorough understanding of the PIPP product and its value for Manitobans.
- Develops an understanding of recovery guidelines and their application in the development of rehabilitation plans and promotion of claimant recovery.
- Develops rehabilitation/return-to-work plans which are tailored to the claimant and their unique situation.
- Monitors the claimant’s recovery and learns to foresee and plan for potential barriers to recovery and file closure.
- Maintains accurate documentation in the electronic claim file.
- Manages claim finances in a fiscally responsible manner, through the application of sound adjusting practices which are consistent, equitable and defensible.
- Acquires the skills of the Case Manager by working with peers on non-complex and building to more complex claims and completing the Associate Case Manager training program.
- Actively demonstrates a commitment to learning.
- Takes an active role in learning and developing leadership skills and case management expertise.
- Proactively participates in and supports the collaborative and collegial work environment by participating in decision-making, information sharing, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
Education
- Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Medical Rehabilitation (Kinesiology or Athletic, Occupational, or Physical Therapy) or a related discipline.
- Degree in Business, Arts or related discipline.
- Certificate in Rehabilitation Case Management, Rehabilitation Benefit Administration, Disability Management Practitioner, or related case management discipline.
Experience
- One year experience in customer service in insurance or case management.
Techncial Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to identify, analyze, research, recommend, and implement effective solutions to a variety of situations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to clearly convey complex information in a concise and straightforward manner.
- Ability to perform cost-benefit analysis, with the ability to interpret and synthesize data.
- Ability to conduct simple financial calculations.
- Ability to provide advanced customer service while maintaining a professional balance between customer/claimant and organizational needs.
- Ability to deal effectively with confrontational claimants as well as stressful situations.
