ARBORISTS ASSISTANT
SUMMARY OF POSITION: This position is responsible for assisting the certified arborist in conducting tree work on commercial and private properties according to the customer’s highest standards in an efficient and timely manner. Employees must demonstrate a high degree of customer service and customer interaction. In addition, other duties will be assigned during other time periods. We are looking for applicants who are entry-level to proficient.
HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. Because this is a weather-dependent outdoor position, hours may be adjusted at any time. Normal work hours are 40 – 50 hours per week, Monday through Friday with some Saturday work. The normal work year is Spring through Fall, however, more hours may be available for snow removal in the Winter.
REQUIRED LICENSES: A valid Wisconsin driver’s license is desirable and a CDL would be preferred.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: A certified arborist or prior tree work is preferred, but training is available for qualified candidates. Employees must be mechanically inclined, physically fit and have a good work ethic.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The following duties are included for this position:
· Climbing trees safely.
· Must be able to work independently and/or with other crews.
· Proper pruning of trees.
· Tree removal.
· Groundwork.
· Proper rigging of trees.
· Diagnose tree health.
· Tree identification.
· Operate lifts, chippers, and stump grinders.
· Operate fleet vehicles.
· Properly and safely operate hand tools such as the chain saw.
· Wear proper PPE and work safely.
· Rope and saddle tree climbing.
JOB LOCATION: Madison metropolitan area.
