The Hospital and Provincial Health Services Division (HPS) leads service transformation across the health sector, bringing together key mandated initiatives and specialized services for priority populations to add value and focus to health sector areas requiring substantive change. HPS is responsible for core service/policy development for specialized services while ensuring a strong linkage to transformation activities and consistent, coordinated delivery of specialized services to patients. Located within HPS, the Hospital Services Branch sets the foundation for high-quality, patient-centered hospital and acute services in BC, while providing stewardship of the Patient Care Quality program. The Patient Care Quality team provides strategic oversight, program evaluation, and policy support for BC’s public healthcare feedback process, which provides patients and their loved ones with a clear, consistent, timely, and transparent avenue for having their concerns addressed while informing local, regional, and systemic improvements to healthcare and related services.

The successful applicant will analyze and develop policy, manage projects, and provide advice and recommendations related to the Patient Care Quality program.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Degree in Public Administration, Health Sciences, Social Sciences or a related field and a minimum of 2 years progressive and related experience* (if Master’s degree is obtained, then a minimum of 1 year of progressive and related experience* is required) OR

Diploma in Public administration, Health Sciences, Social Sciences or a related field and a minimum of 4 years progressive and related experience* OR

No degree and a minimum of 6 years progressive and related experience.*

*Progressive and related experience must include:

Researching policy issues and conducting policy analyses;

Consulting and/or working in partnership with impacted parties or organizations;

Managing projects and/or project components; and

Evaluating programs and/or services.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit)

Preference may be given to applicants with experience developing policy and/or legislation

Preference may be given to applicants who have experience providing advice and recommendations on policy, program, or service issues in the health care or social policy sector

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
