The Workplace Health and Safety branch of the BC Public Service Agency provides the BC Public Service with programs related to health planning, workplace safety, occupational health and rehabilitation, and disability benefits administration services.

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Practice Lead oversees the delivery of high-quality services in support of Corporate Health Programs and the Workplace Health & Safety Division (WHS). The Practice Lead contributes a leadership, operations, and privacy perspective to the delivery of administrative services. The Practice Lead supervises a team of Disability Claims Analysts and the Safety Claims Coordinator, with a focus on teamwork and cooperation, improving business processes and collaboration with internal and external clients. The Disability Claims Analysts are responsible for LTD claims administration, triaging incoming applications. The Safety Claims Coordinator triages WorkSafeBC claims, responding to WorkSafeBC requests and providing assistance to ministry supervisors and employees and our payroll service provider with the reporting of workplace illnesses or injuries. This team works closely with the Workplace Health Services branch, which is responsible for early intervention and return to work consulting.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in a related field (such as human resources, public administration, business administration or other related field); OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Experience leading, supervising, coaching, and developing employees in multiple locations including experience leading teams through change.

Experience leading virtual meetings.

Experience analyzing complex information from a variety of sources to reach sound conclusions.

Experience analyzing data and developing reports to inform business decisions.

Experience interpreting collective agreements, policy, or legislation.

Preference may be given to candidates with:

Experience in disability benefits administration.

Experience with business process re-engineering.

Experience using health or safety database systems.

Experience with interpreting Short Term Illness & Injury Plan and/or LTD collective agreement language.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position is located in Victoria only.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent vacancies.
This position is excluded from union membership.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
