Accounts Payable Clerk

Remote Position – Eden Valley, AB

Job #31-2024-04

Under the direct supervision of the senior accountant, the Accounts Payables Clerk (A/P Clerk) is a highly fast paced visible position that is responsible for processing vendor’s invoices in an accurate and timely manner. The A/P Clerk is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the active A/P records, provide support and maintain payment accuracy.

Duties & Responsibilities:

ACCOUNTS PAYABLES

Verify all submitted general cheque requisitions and account payable vouchers to:

Ensure invoices are matched with assigned purchase orders.

Reject any submission that is not properly completed such as incomplete vendor/member information, inaccurate coding, unsigned vouchers, vouchers signed by unauthorized approvers, statements without invoices, etc.

Report to supervisor for any discrepancies found.

Record data entries for accounts payables.

Scan and attach invoices to the accounting system.

Responsible for vendor inquiries, invoice resolution, and timely resolution of issues

Ensure efficient flow of payables procedures including keeping up with rushes payments and deadlines.

Ensure internal control process is followed.

OTHER

o Monthly Bank reconciliation

o Monthly intercompany invoicing

o Preparation of fixed assets schedule for auditors

o Maintain a well-organized work area.

o Understand the importance of thoroughness in accounting processes.

o Maintain proper accounting filing records.

o Responsible for maintaining cheque and toner stock.

o Assist with the Year-End process.

o Other duties as required.

Education, Skills & Qualifications:

· Grade 12 High School Diploma an asset

· Accounting related experience or accounting certificate an asset

· Bookkeeping certification and experience required.

· Post-secondary education in accounting/business preferred.

· Knowledge in Xyntax systems an asset.

· Must be computer oriented.

· Microsoft word and excel knowledge is required.

· Conscientious attention to detail

Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environment.

An ability to work with minimum supervision and in a fast-paced environment.

Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Maintain strict adherence to the nation’s policies and processes especially for confidentiality.

Employment Conditions
